Egress Windows

509 Concrete Cutting & Egress Windows is your all-in-one supplier of basement windows. We cover everything from the building permit to the window and window well installation and ladder trim.

Basement windows are our specialty and we take pride in the product that we deliver. We install quality windows that are designed specifically for egress use. They are Low E, and argon filled. Performed with the upmost consideration of the outside environment by providing multi-layered protection from the elements. We also provide a variety of styles, colors, sizes and types of windows to ensure that your new egress window is not only functional, but is aesthetically pleasing as well.

The window wells are excavated with a mini-excavator (if accessible) or by hand. To protect the windows from water damage, the window wells are excavated to a minimum depth of one foot below the new window sill. If your home has a weeping tile system, we recommend a drainage pipe tie-in to further protect the well from flooding.

We offer a standard corrugated steel well. All wells are secured to the foundation to prevent settling and warping. Six inches of drain stone is added to the bottom of the wells, which promotes the melting of snow in winter.

The concrete is cut using state-of-the-art fumeless hydraulic concrete cutting equipment. We use a wall-mounted saw to make straight and level cuts, and a specialized ring saw to finish the corners (minimal overcutting). The concrete is removed from site and delivered to a recycling facility if requested (add’l fee may apply).

An egress window in a basement dramatically brightens an otherwise dark, dingy room, but it also has a more serious purpose. It’s large enough to offer a safe exit from the basement in the event of a fire or other emergencies. Adding an egress window is essential any time you remodel your basement to make a new bedroom, office, or other living space.

In most states, real estate appraisers will consider rooms with an egress window a formal “bedroom”. Adding another bedroom to your home can increase it’s value tremendously.
